Lahore: A number of long term policies are being taken for capacity building of police personnel, to meet the challenges of terrorism, and to deal effectively with the miscreants and hardened criminals.
This was stated by Inspector General of Police Punjab, Javed Iqbal while addressing to 95th National Management Course participants at PHQ in a meeting here today. 49 NMC officers’ alongwith 10 faculty members attended the meeting.
While talking on the occasion IGP said that after 9/11 incident the overall scenario was changed and due to this combat terrorism and extremism was become the top priority of the police but now the time has come it should be reverted towards its basic responsibility by focusing on the public safety.
The PPO further said that the legislation for the police is the dire need of the hour. He said while entering into 21st century and to meet the latest challenges of the era, we should do the new legislation for the police instead of following the laws made before partition.
In this way the police department not only could be modernized but also would be unable to handle the situations according to the latest requirements. He said that the police officials should restore the confidence between the community and police.
The IG Police maintained, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif paying special attention towards organization of police force on modern lines, under which it was being equipped with latest technology and training for ensuring complete protection of people’s lives and property.
Earlier, Addl. IG Punjab Ch. Tanvir briefed the IGP about the meeting. Later, Addl. IG Training Sarmad Saeed, Addl. IG CTD Mushtaq Shukhera and DIG Operations, Punjab, Sohail Khan briefed in detailed about their section to the participants. At the end IGP also answered the various question raised by the participants.
