Lahore, May 26, 2015 (PPI-OT): In order to review the Implementation on National Action Plan, restructuring of Traffic Police, settlement of pending promotion cases and security of foreign experts working on all development projects, Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera hold RPO conference through video link at Civil Secretariat, Lahore.
On this occasion, all senior officers of CPO including Addl: IGP Establishment Punjab, Nasim ul Zaman, Addl: IGP Operations Punjab, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Training, Usman Khattak, Addl: IGP Investigation, Tariq Masood Yasin, Addl: IGP PHP, Javed Islam, Addl: IGP Traffic, Rai Altaf, Addl: IGP Special Branch, Punjab, Dr. Arif Mushtaq, Addl: IGP CTD Punjab, Rai Muhammad Tahir and Commandant Punjab Consabulary, Hussain Asghar were present.
IGP directed all the RPOs to expedite the implementation on National Action Plan in the light of Appex Committee’s decisions as a front line force on war against terrorism in the province. In video conference, restructuring of Traffic Police, Punjab was decided. It was also decided that a unified traffic warden system will be introduced in all cities of the province with a view to improve the traffic system, flow of traffic and redressal of public complaints in this regard.
It was also decided that in future the posting tenure of traffic officers will not be more than three years and all officers / officials will be repatriated in their parent departments from Traffic Police. IGP was told that 500 traffic officers have been transferred so far under these instructions.
The conference also decided that all field officers will directly monitor the licensing branches in their respective districts and will also take strict action against all those black sheep of these branches who caused bad name of the department. All officers and officials having criminal record and involved in corruption will not be given important postings, decided in the conference.
The conference also decided that all field officers will ensure the completion of pending promotion cases and forward them to CPO within the period of one month, so that the unrest among the officers could be redressed in this regard.
IGP also directed the RPOs to beef up the security at police lockups and police stations to stop the practice of criminals escaping from the police custody. They were also directed to ensure the setting up of bunkers on both sides of the police pickets besides the officers deployed on these pickets must use the bullet-proof jackets and equip with latest weapons.
Minimum deployment at these police pickets will be 1-4, decided in the conference. All RPOs will also hold a meeting with their investigation officers on daily basis who are investigating the heinous crime cases and will submit their findings to CPO office directly. The security of all foreign experts specially Chinese engaged in all development projects in Punjab was reviewed in detail and it was decided that fool proof security of these experts will be ensured at any cost.
While directing the field officers regarding the crime situation in Punjab, IGP stressed upon them to personally go into the field and monitor the crime in their regions and take all out steps to redress the complaints of the public by providing them speedy justice. He also directed that all out efforts must be taken to ensure the security of the minorities and their holly places in the province.
He also directed the RPOs to take all received threat alerts of various agencies very seriously and set their security strategy accordingly. Keeping in view the prevailing situation, search operations, general hold ups, snap checking, besides the security monitoring of vulnerable places, important offices, airports, railway stations, bus terminals, markets and banks will be continued, decided in the conference.
